St Aloysius Catholic Church, Olivia, Minnesota This job is a total restoration of this church. The job started on 6-19-06. It was done in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Guild. The priest’s name is Rev. Paul Van De Crommert. The ceiling was washed, patched and repainted. The last two sections of the ceiling and the back wall had sound proofing tiles they were removed along with the glue. All paintings were washed, varnished again and touched up. The stencil on the ceiling ribs was gone through for lose spots when said spots were found they were opened and glued again. Also a 3/8 red line was added to both sides of the stencil and lastly a new coat of varnish was applied to even the overall look. Over the top of the arch on the front wall the painting of Mary was taken down and inspected. Later after the front wall was repainted with the inside panels being wall color the banding being ceiling and a 1 inch line defining the shape of the panel Mary was reinstalled in the same location and touched up. All chains for the lights as well as the chain for the vigil lamp were washed, primed, gold painted and lacquered. The windows on the back wall were banded with an eight inch band in ceiling color and had a 3/8 red line added. The area that is to be the new baptismal area had to have the old door cut into a new arch shape and plastered again to fit a new rod iron gate that was made in Italy. The three windows in the baptistery were closed up and plastered over. The sanctuary was completely skim coated, sanded and given a faux marble finish in two colors, a red marble and a white to match the columns in the church. The baldachin witch was plaster was also given a faux marble finish and decorated with gold leaf. Around the lower paintings in the church new trim was added that was 4 ½ inches for the large paintings and 2 ½ inches for the smaller paintings. On the walls all artwork was washed, checked over for looseness fixed as needed and touched up. The tops of the columns in the front of the sanctuary used to be carved stone and the priest wanted them marbled to match the ones in the baldachin. Also the frames around the mosaics on the front wall were faux finished. A new back ground was added to the virtues. New frames were added to all murals. The front of the balcony was repaired and touched up.
